Pakistan is one of those developing economies of the 21st century where distant learning, online education, E-learning concepts have been recognized late when compared to other developing countries. The reasons for this learning gap are many such as the generation gap, the old conventional method of teaching and the highly inefficient use of technology are a few of the highly debated reasons that show us this alarming situation. Now, Pakistan has inculcated this mode of learning after the COVID-19 pandemic but somehow it’s not fruitful to that extent. Let’s discuss the problem first,

Identifying Problem; E-learning challenges and gaps

PROBLEM:

The problem lies in this new mode of teaching because students and professors both are new to this medium and they both are facing challenges in understanding and teaching respectively. So, the crux of the matter is that the students are not aware of the E-learning platforms such as EdX, Coursera, Udemy, and Khan Academy which are working with a vision to provide education worldwide. This Gap has been identified as one of the main issues when it comes to distant or online education.

WHY I CHOSE THIS ISSUE?

We all must have heard that if we want to change the world, we must bring change in ourselves first. I remember back in 2015, I failed to score well in MCAT. I failed to pass my CA exams in 2017. I failed to find one good reason to keep going because I was the one who scored 94% and 88% in matric and F.Sc and those failures were so unexpected for me. I wish if I had learnt about these E-learning platforms at that time, I would have been able to get a degree from Harvard and MIT from my home and without even going anywhere. But, ALAS!

Normalise failure; It’s OKAY to FAIL but It’s not OKAY to GIVE UP

HOW I STARTED PONDERING ABOUT THIS ISSUE?

When you have gone through much and you see someone going through the same situation, how can you stay calm without helping them? I always ask this question to myself and therefore I came up with a solution, “If you can’t see any opportunity, create it” This world is full of endless treasures and we only need to give a small push to ourselves to achieve it. Nobody was there to guide me back in 2015 and so on, hence I became a source of light for others to save them from the mistakes I did.

I joined an online platform called AIDE to help youngsters!

LEARNING EXPERIENCE:

Amal Academy gave me a chance to work on this cause again as I am not working officially with this organization named AIDE anymore but I always try to guide students in my individual capacity. So, my purpose for this mega project is mainly to guide youth by becoming a bridge between their problems and their respective solutions. I want to bring awareness to our youth about online learning platforms and internationally recognized certifications. I want to become a ray of hope in their dark times of failure and rejection. My aim is to educate Pakistani youth and discover their potential to reach the heights of success and make their beloved country proud. Following are the online learning platforms I will recommend them to join and learn whatever they want to as per their interests and passion.

E-learning platforms bridging gaps in student’s education

The idea looks easy but it's actually not. When I got in touch with my mentors they told me some other valid reasons such as low-income families are unable to afford to pay the fee for their students. Some students have very little know-how about using technology so a learning barrier comes here as well. Some students do not get the right direction to pursue their aims i.e. Lack of career counselling which ultimately affects their grades. So these were a few things I got to learn when I got in touch with my mentors who are running their online setups to guide the youth.

My Mentor! On a mission to educate people through modern and unconventional ways.

Meet Mr Talha Syed Naqvi, He was the one to show me the right way when I was at my worst(Career-Wise). He is the one who motivates youth through his heartwarming words He is a Professor, a Mentor, and a hope for many students.

Mr Salman; Working with LOOP organization to make an impact

Meet Mr Salman Ayaz, He is Lead Trainer, Instructor, Research Scholar and capacity builder. I usually get in touch with him to discuss the problems I face in due course of my studies. My aims regarding this mega Project are similar to his and we both are on a mission to discover the potential in our youth for a prosperous nation.

In order to beat all the challenges, I got to know these insights so far. I aim to dig deeper in future to learn more about the nitty-gritty of each and every aspect of this issue.

I hope you enjoyed reading this!
