I don’t need to write down the stuff I will remember it. I do brainwriting instead of formal note-taking. I don’t prefer doing two things at the same time as it doesn't fully keep us involved in one activity. These are some of the arguments we give ourselves for personal satisfaction but eventually, we end up remembering nothing. Blank!!! ALAS! Have you ever thought about the reason behind it? May be yeah you might have but the core reason for it lies somewhere else and that is “giving 100% attention at one point in time to one or multiple things”

ATTENTION IS A SEED FOR DEVELOPMENT & GROWTH

Let’s talk about a technique that drives our 100% focus for a short period of time in order to measure the productivity of getting work done and then repeatedly doing it to enhance our experience. I tried this technique thrice and achieved awesome results. It's called the Pomodoro technique which involves these basic steps.

  1. Decide the task to be done
  2. Set 25 mins timer or a reminder
  3. Remove all kinds of distractions and focus 100% on your work. If a distraction appears note it down on a piece of paper. Carry on with your work wholeheartedly.
  4. Once the timer rings, take a break for 2–3 minutes and relax
  5. Repeat the process again by setting the timer and continue working. This time you may take a longer break and keep increasing your break time unless you are done with your work.
POMODORO helping in getting things done

MY EXPERIENCE:

I am the one who always struggles when it comes to meet deadlines or getting work done. I usually finalize my work at the eleventh hour because of bad time management habits. Most of the time goes wasted because of multiple distractions i.e. Social Media, Procrastination, and much more. After implementing this technique I was amazed by how effective it was; I wish I knew this before.

Task Decided: I am about to appear in an interview next week and my future boss asked me to write an article before coming to the interview as we had a long discussion on the phone call about it. I am planning to write it from last week but I was unable to sit down, collect my thoughts and ideas to express my views about that topic.

The task I was finding difficult or burdensome to do from the past week took genuine 2 hours to accomplish what I wanted to write. I brainstormed my ideas for the first 25 minutes. Took a break and then started making a sequence that how it should be written to make sure the goal of writing that piece of writing serves its purpose. I was free from all kinds of distractions i.e switched off my phone, locked my room, and sat down in a cozy place. It helped me a lot otherwise my ideas shatter around and I couldn‘t remember them then. If I evaluate myself I would rather say that this technique improved my way of doing work in lesser time and in a better way. It helped me to recall and realize the potential I have for writing. I plan to do it more often from now onwards because I always struggle to complete my assignments and projects on time. I plan to do it while completing my freelance writing projects because I do it other than the usual course of my studies and I badly need to manage time for that. I also aim to use this technique while making content for my blog as I used to spend lots of time thinking about how it should be written and designed but now I have this technique and I am supposed to make use of it otherwise I will remain stuck in managing everything.

Leave your valuable comments below if you got to learn anything out of my experience.

Thank you!

Have a nice day!
