Challenging your problem-solving skills to accept failure.
Edhi Sahab- A Mirror to blind and a melody for the deaf. A Helping hand for helpless and a Ray of hope for hopeless. A Father to orphan and a Friend to many. His services to mankind and humanity remain unmatched and unparalleled for ages. In times of Inflation, terrorism, extremism, Edhi Sahab was the one to provide the best humanitarian services with the biggest network of ambulances across the world.
We have always heard that no religion is higher than humanity. Unfortunately, the real essence of this statement is lost somewhere. I along with my team members got a chance to work for the mission of Edhi Sahab so that this journey never ends. After his demise, the foundation has gone through crucial times in terms of donations and funding. We as a team are working to raise funds for the Edhi Foundation and hope to collect a good amount of money to feed the poor and help the helpless.
STRATEGIES:
As this was a group activity, we all made a plan to conduct this activity. We devised the following techniques to collect funds and donations.
- We made a separate poster to share among our friends, family, and social circle. We added account details on it so that people can send money there.
2. We uploaded that poster on our social media handles (Facebook, WhatsApp & Instagram) along with a request stating about project work and Edhi Sahab’s mission. We tried to instill a sense of responsibility in people to look around themselves and help people through whatever means they can. Be thankful to Allah Almighty always.
3. We made use of Facebook groups and posted our posters and permission letter there too for raising funds. Unfortunately, we got zero response but we made an appeal and fulfilled our part.
4.I (Amnah, Group Leader) approached two people from my contacts named Miss Maida Ghafoor Kiyani and Mr. Hasaan Bin Sadat. They helped me in guiding how can I approach people on a bigger scale. This was the very first experience for me and the learning was splendid.
EXPERIENCE:
Carrying out the mission of “The Richest Poor Man” we went through a lot of experiences. Posting on our social media handles asking people for donations was something that we all did for the first time in our lives. It was a group activity so we all decided to work on it more passionately. We devised strategies to approach people and let them know about our cause. We got to know the meaning of teamwork, how fruitful and productive it can be when everyone in the group shares their opinion about how can we make it better. Asking for donations seemed a bit awkward too because of the fact that usually our parents and elders decide where should we spend our money on a social cause. But at the same time, we realized that this time it's going in safe hands so we approached people and collected money. We tried hard; we may not have given our best but we can surely improve our approach in the future as there’s always room for improvement.
Everyone from my circle was extremely supportive and cooperative. Everyone was putting his best efforts to raise funds. We had no bad arguments, no conflicts. We had an overwhelming experience working with each other. I assure as a group leader that everyone(except Zubair and Anas Khaleeq) from our circle was working religiously.
CHALLENGES:
Every journey has ups and downs, we have to go through the hardest times in order to become successful. Every rose comes with thorns just like every rain brings us a rainbow. We all have heard that every cloud has a silver lining, similarly, there were challenges at our end when we were on a mission to collect funds.
Challenge №1: Authenticity This challenge was faced by almost all of us was authenticity. People might not share this concern but we felt that. That’s why we shared with them the permission letter granted to us from Amal Academy. It helped a lot and we also explained to them that we are working on a project.
Challenge №2: Unresponsiveness The Second challenge we all went through was the unresponsive attitude and behavior of people. Our appeal was seen by many and responded to by only a handful of people. On average, 2/10 people responded. Therefore, we were also heartbroken and had to devise another strategy. One of us was amazed by the beautiful wish a respondent left on the status reply and that was more than enough to keep us going.
Challenge №3: Communication Barrier Although we’ll make a combined effort, sometimes we were unable to catch up with each other and ask if everything was going smooth at their end. We all worked following the principle of EK OR EK GYARA!
COLLECTED AMOUNT :
In the end, our hard work and relentless efforts bore fruit and we were able to collect Rs, 10,800 as a team from our friends and family members. We kept contacting them as they were the ones who trusted us and helped in completing this task effectively.
We thank Allah Almighty for granting us this opportunity to serve His people. We were never been this well-deserved but being chosen for this task felt like a dream come true. We thank Amal Academy to provide us with the chance to earn the blessings of the Almighty.
